PROTEGO® Academy
Competency by advanced training and Know-How transfer:
the PROTEGO® contribution to safety of processing plants
European Guidelines and National Regulations serve to grant and to enhance the safety and health protection of the workers at work by means of Protective Measures. In hazardous locations of processing plants in particular the operator of the plant is required to follow the minimum requirements for improving the safety and health protection of workers potentially at risk from explosive atmospheres.
To follow all the Guidelines, Laws, Regulations and Technical Specifications it needs detailed knowledge about the applicable standards and well prepared instructions. The state of the art is required for grass root plants as well as for revamps to achieve the actual best practise.
In explosion hazardous plants a special knowledge is essential to guarantee the appropriate protection of the workers and of the inventory.
Therefore a regular training in Explosion Protection measures is mandatory to inspect and validate the existing protection measures and to install protective systems which are State of the Art Technology.
The competent engineer is assisted by competent servicing personell. On their level the maintenance personell must be trained in a way that they are capable to evaluate and to maintain the required protective measures.
Detailed knowledge of explosion prevention and protection of the entire plant is essential to locate and to limit the risks. A participation at a cross-company networking meeting for the exchange of experiences is necessary to learn the lessons and to avoid mistakes. More complex chemical processes are the challenge for both engineering and servicing personell.
The selection of protective systems and the intended operation need the special know-how of the manufacturer of the Protective Systems. Generally the knowledge of the single unit is transfered and layed out by the manufacturer in the corresponding instructions for installation, operation and maintenance - the manual. The collaboration (cooperation) of all systems must be trained separately. Faulty maintenance of Protective Systems is a risk for the entire plant and will increase the risk of safety and loss.
